Affectionately known as ‘IBS’ in the industry, the 2017 International Builders’ Show welcomed 80,000 attendees to Orlando January 10-12 as part of Design and Construction Week. From awards shows to education, new trends and old friends, here are the highlights of the week from the KGA crew:
As Bronco fans we couldn’t help but be thrilled when Peyton Manning was announced as the keynote speaker. Always inspiring, his message on the importance of team was a great way to start the week. Need we say more?
The Nationals is the largest and most prestigious awards ceremony celebrating the best in new home sales, marketing and design from across the country. KGA was proud to take home a Silver Award for Best Architectural Design of a Single Family Detached Home 3,501 to 4,000 SF for the Summit, the flagship model for Epic Homes.
A big congratulations to our dear friend S. Robert August, who was recognized as the 2017 Legend of Residential Marketing. This enormous honor is well deserved. ONwards and UPwards!
The Denver Sales and Marketing Council (SMC) was recognized as the best SMC in the Nation at the Nationals! This is the 3rd time in 4 years the Denver SMC has been recognized with this honor. KGA is extremely proud to serve on this council, and excited for 2017 as our Managing Partner, Jennifer Williams, takes over as SMC Chair.
This has been an exciting year at the HBA of Metro Denver, and people are taking notice! The newly formed Custom Builder & Remodeler Council (CBRC) received first place in the small council membership contest.
The Professional Women in Building (PWB) Council won 2nd place for Innovative Program and 2nd place for Community Outreach.
Educational programs are an integral part of IBS, and each year KGA looks forward to participating as speakers. We spend the months leading up to the show carefully preparing our presentations, which this year centered around design for the 55+ market, multi-gen design, and the latest design trends. Thank you to everyone who turned out for the presentations!
We can’t forget the show floor, which spanned over 569,000 net square feet, and featured more than 1,500 manufacturers and suppliers. KGA favorites were:
I loved the Kohler booth, they had some really cool vanities in grey and lots of free-standing tubs in unique styles. – Jennifer Williams, Managing Partner
My favorite was the curved 12’ high doors from Andersen Windows and Doors, they were pretty darn snazzy! – Bart Coleman, Studio Director
Indoor/Outdoor living is becoming more important than ever; a priority for today’s lifestyle. And the products offered today are responding well to the demand. Standouts at the show included door systems making it difficult to determine where the “inside” ends and the “outside” begins; connectivity is seamless. – Steve Combs, Business Development
Trade shows are a great place to get useful – or not so useful – swag, depending on how you look at it. And the award for the best swag goes to…
