It’s no secret that we love the MAME Awards at KGA! It’s the perfect opportunity to get dressed up and spend the evening recognizing – and hopefully being recognized for! – achievements over the past year. For those of you who are not familiar with the MAME Awards, MAME stands for Marketing and Merchandising Excellence. Basically, the Oscars of the new home building industry. From sales and marketing to architecture and interior design, being recognized with a MAME Award is a coveted honor for which the competition grows fiercer each year (this year there were 50% more entries than in 2016!).
2017 has been an amazing year for us, and we are incredibly honored to receive the following awards:
Best Architectural Design – Urban Infill Design
5390′ Peak I Model
Builder: Koelbel Urban Homes
5390 is a new urban infill community repurposing the parking lots surrounding the former El Jebel Shrine into a mix of 55 paired and single-family homes. Located minutes from Denver’s downtown core, the community is adjacent to the Willis Case Golf Course in a trendy, highly desirable neighborhood, and boasts spectacular views from the highest point in Denver. The site came with a challenging P.U.D. developed by the neighbors prior to the purchase of the land that was very anti-growth. The P.U.D. restricted building heights and coverages, making it difficult to achieve a plan that met proforma. To solve for this, we stacked 3 stories into the bulk plane by pulling in the upper floors and lowering the plates, which resulted in charming, nostalgic sloped ceilings on the 3rd level. Attached Home of the Year
The Flourish at Green Gables Reserve
Builder: CalAtlantic Homes
The Flourish offers buyers the opportunity to move into a new home at a lower price point while enjoying the same amenities and benefits of new construction as the pricier single-family homes in the same community. Starting at 1,782 SF with 2 bedrooms, 2.5 baths and a 2-car garage, there are numerous plan options available to fit buyers of diverse life styles and life stages.
At just 25’ wide, these alley-loaded units are organized to create a sense of spaciousness. On the main floor the kitchen, dining and grand room spaces are grouped in an open “L” shape while service areas and stairs are placed against party walls. The home has both front and back covered porches and a small side yard for pets, gardening or entertaining. On the upper level an angled wall provides interest and an opportunity to properly size rooms. The upper level offers multiple options for customization, with the possibility of 2 to 4 bedrooms, a home office or open loft space, bonus flex room, dual master suites and/or an enlarged master suite with extra closet space. Community of the Year
Green Gables Reserve
Builder: CalAtlantic Homes
Green Gables Reserve was recognized as Best on the Boards Community at the MAME Awards in 2015, which makes winning Community of the Year that much more exciting! We love watching our designs become a reality, and it has been especially exciting to watch Green Gables Reserve take shape. We had the honor of designing 3 different product types for the community: single family detached homes, 2-story alley load duplexes and low-maintenance paired patio homes (perfect for 55+ buyers). First home to a silver baron and later to an exclusive country club, this new community thoughtfully preserves the land’s history while welcoming the next group to enjoy this special place.
