The Opportunity: Designer

Works in concert with the Senior Architect, Associate(s), Principal Architect or Director of Design and has full responsibility for creating and managing the design direction of a project in addition to project management responsibilities for assigned projects.

  • Coordinates project design, develops creative-design concepts for projects, and prepares presentations and design drawings.
  • Works independently on architectural design projects and often coordinates project design efforts. Develops planning and creative-design concepts for projects.
  • Prepares presentation and design drawings and details.
  • Prepares strategic plans for project success.
  • Responsible for the coordination of all project efforts, administrative and technical, to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
  • Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Actively manages the client, budgets, invoicing, schedules, programs, project communications and documentation; office administrative tasks; and project team assignments.
  • Estimates fee, determines scope of work, and contributes the information for proposal and contract preparation.
  • Manage all aspects of subconsultant engagement and serve as conduit to the project and team.
  • Oversee the design to ensure it is meeting the building and zoning code research.
  • Production of CADD presentations and plan documents.
  • Perform QC review and generate redlines prior to final QC review by Production Director, Senior Architect or similar.
  • Steward company values and processes.
  • Provide design mentoring and training for junior staff and team members.
  • Attend and contribute to internal meetings as requested.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

What are we looking for?

Experience & Ability

  • A degree in Architecture
  • 8+ years’ work experience developing details and providing planning and design support in the preparation of design development
  • License preferred but not required
  • AutoCAD and REVIT proficiency required
  • A proven track record for independent critical and strategic thinking
  • Comfort with front-facing client interaction while providing a high level of customer service
  • Understanding of architectural design and construction observation
  • Working knowledge of building codes
  • Knowledge of construction with regards to material & methods
  • Strong communication skills; both verbal and written

The Opportunity: Draftsperson II

Primary responsibility is to create drawings infused with whatever technical details are appropriate to the project. Often a part of a project team directed by a Project Manager, Job Captain, or Architect.

Responsibilities

  • Independently prepares CADD production of presentation and plan documents; including detailing
  • Performs analyses of design, planning and occupancy studies, and limited design layouts.
  • Prepares project specifications, compiling and analyzing relevant data.
  • Reviews completed reports, plans, estimates and calcs.
  • Redline pick-up
  • Graphic illustration
  • Communicate progress update to Project Managers and Principals via weekly reports
  • Prepares internal and external reports as directed
  • Collaborate with various teams to ensure best project outcomes
  • Participate in client, company and team meetings as needed and directed
  • Follow and understanding of company standards and procedures
  • Other duties as requested or assigned

What are we looking for:

Experience & Ability

  • Minimum 3+ years’ work experience in architecture or similar field required
  • An undergraduate degree in Architecture, Associates degree in Drafting or completed course work in a related field of study
  • REVIT proficiency required, AutoCAD a plus
  • Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch Up and Lumion or Enscape, a plus
